Join Pauline as she leads you through a gentle but effective set of flowing Qigong movements. With a focus on relaxation and wellbeing rather than strict technique, these sessions are for anyone wanting to either relieve stress, do low impact supportive exercise movement, improve mind and body wellbeing, or simply learn a new beneficial activity.
About Qigong
Qigong is a gentle movement practice which combines light flowing movements, breath and mental focus to cultivate and bring energy to the body, promoting relaxation, balance, health and wellbeing. It has become popular in recent years as a low impact exercise, and also a form of moving meditation and appeals to those wanting to keep their mind and body healthy and well.
Regular Qigong practice offers many physical, mental and emotional health benefits. From physical improvements in joint flexibility, muscle strength, balance, injury recovery and overall fitness, to relieved tension, stress relief, increased relaxation and improved concentration. In essence, it is a super power in rejuvenating the mind, body and spirit.
About the Session
Based upon the popular Shibashi style Qigong, the set of movements in our sessions, have been adapted to be accessible for all ages and abilities, minimising any risk of injury or strain on the body, whilst still allowing for the cultivation and flow of chi energy through the body, to promote wellness.
We lead you slowly through 18 gentle, repeated, flowing movements to soft ambient music. Whether you are looking to restore health, improve energy, or find a moment of calm, our relaxed and non competitive sessions offer a supportive environment, in which to learn and practice this restorative and therapeutic healing art.
Learning any new thing can be challenging and daunting at first. Our Be Well Qigong sessions are relaxed, enjoyable, and easy to learn and follow. For those who may have tried Tai Chi, but found it tricky to pick up and learn the moves and routine, Qigong offers a simpler set of movements, which are easier to follow and moves can be learnt gradually over time.
Some people will want to learn and develop their practice over the weeks, months, years of attendance. Others will want to just turn up each week, be in the moment, and enjoy the gentle movement and time to relax. It is your Qigong session to join in, in whatever way suits you.
The beauty of these sessions is that you don’t need any special clothing or equipment. It can be practiced in flat, comfortable shoes, non slip socks or barefeet and you can wear any loose comfortable clothing.
